how can typography enhance the meaning of text? how can you create a typographic journey through a story that has already been told? the concept for the virtuous book comes from integrating Gui Bonsiepe’s essay, “Some Virtues of Design” with Helen Armstrong’s book, “Graphic Design Theory: Readings from the Field” with the intention of embracing the importance of design theory in the design process as a whole. the concept worked to use typographic elements such as hierarchy, scale and contrast of positive and negative space to enhance the combination of both texts in a visually compelling way.
